Illustration for Monte Cook Games. This was a ton of fun to work on. It's always great when a client comes to you and basically says, "you know that thing you love to do? Can you just do that? Make a weird creature." This is obviously a continuation of where I'm trying to be more colorful with my work.
Fabulously weird & wonderful . . . !
This came out so darn well Joe! Its not only sick because its good ... its sick because its absolutely gross. They way you weaved your magic with those colours and highlights really accentuates how putrid the stench must be.
really nice ! Have you got a way of working, define shape, etc... ? a process you always keep in mind when you draw a character ?
When sketching I'm trying to focus on the silhouette but let myself kind of scribble mindlessly. After things are drawn out, I often build a maquette even if it's just bending some sculpture wire and sitting it in front of me. It also helps to look at a lot of real world animals and insects. I didn't look at it while working on this but there's a real world insect with that weird back end minus the black nodules. Just looking at all of that stuff and it stays in the back of of mind months later and informs decisions.
This is really damn cool, I really like the balls in the skin and the blue saliva, nice work man!
Woh, that is like a cross between a lobster and something out of Jabba's dungeon in "Return Of The Jedi" -MAD!!!
fucking freaky man. nice work
Looking forward to this game. Lovely art!
I don't know what the hell it is, but I love it! I think you did really, really well with the coloring.
