I would love to read some history behind that concept.

Good!Eventually I'll be putting the background about this world out there. The basic idea is a race with an exo symbiote. The more often they shoot or lose their quills, the more it stunts the symbiote's growth. So the one on the left very rarely shot it's quills or lost it's quills while growing so it fully matured. Also, quill use determines gender. So basically every member of the race could choose or be forced to be like the male on the right.

Well thank you! Very nice concept! Other thing that caught my attention was that line: arm ridges open to raincatching. I was wondering about that one.

Oh yeah once the symbiote gets so big it needs more nourishment than it can get from the host so that's just a way for it to passively get nourishment by catching rain water or even plunging them into any liquids. This liquid also goes to support the host so that the host rarely needs to abandon contact.

Well all of this personal project is for an RPG I'm trying to put together myself from the ground up. So this stuff is written and I'll just start putting it out there when I try to raise some money for it. Wish me luck.
